What Rosie is and who it is built for
Rosie calls itself "The easiest AI answering service for small business." When a customer calls your number, Rosie answers 24/7, answers common questions, takes messages, books appointments and transfers calls to a person when needed. You get a summary, transcript and recording of each call, and notifications by text, email or the mobile app. It speaks English and Spanish on every call.
It's built for small businesses in general, not just the trades. Rosie's homepage lists home services, plumbing and electricians alongside law firms, real estate, salons and property management. You can sign up for a 7-day free trial with all features and cancel anytime.
Rosie's real strengths
- Low price. Plans start at $49 a month for 250 minutes on its pricing page. For a shop that just needs the phone answered after hours, that's hard to beat.
- Easy to try. A 7-day free trial with all features, and you can cancel anytime.
- Bilingual. English and Spanish on every call, which matters in a lot of service areas.
- Texting built in. Rosie can send appointment links by text on every plan, and text callers during the call on Scale and up. A Website Texting add-on is $50 a month for 25 conversations, then $1 per conversation.
- Works with the software you have. Rosie connects to Zapier on every plan and has integrations for Jobber and Housecall Pro that log calls, texts and chats to the customer record.

Where HelloSetter is different
Rosie and HelloSetter solve different problems. Rosie waits for the phone to ring. HelloSetter makes the call. When a homeowner fills in your website form, or a lead lands from Angi, Thumbtack or Google LSA, nobody is calling you yet. They're waiting to hear back, and they've often asked two or three other contractors too.
HelloSetter calls that lead by AI voice within 60 seconds. In our testing, the call starts about a second after the lead arrives. It qualifies the lead, handles the common objections homeowners raise, and books an estimate on the HelloSetter Calendar. You subscribe to the calendar with an iCal link, and HelloSetter reads your own calendar link so it doesn't double-book you.
If the call hits voicemail, it detects that and tries again, up to 16 times over several days, only inside calling hours. If the lead calls back, a local number answers. HelloSetter only calls leads who gave consent, and you get an email summary after every call.
Built around the lead feed
Lead sources are connected on a 30-minute setup call: website forms, Google Sheets, and webhook or Zapier feeds from services like Angi, Thumbtack or LSA. If you're paying for those leads, the money is lost in the gap between the form and the first call. That gap is the only thing HelloSetter is built to close.
Answering service vs lead caller
An answering service is there when the phone rings, and it's judged on whether every call gets picked up. A lead caller reaches out first, and it's judged on how fast it gets to someone who asked for a quote and how many of those turn into booked estimates. Both matter, but most contractors feel one problem more than the other. If customers say they couldn't get through, that's an answering problem. If you're paying for leads and finding out days later that the homeowner already hired someone, that's a speed problem.
What HelloSetter won't do
To be clear about the limits: HelloSetter doesn't text leads, doesn't answer your main business line, doesn't run campaigns to past customers, and doesn't push bookings into ServiceTitan, Jobber or Housecall Pro. It's a lead caller. If any of those gaps is a deal-breaker for you, the next section is the one to read.
Where Rosie is the better choice
If inbound answering is all you need, Rosie costs less and does more of that job. It's likely the better pick if:
- Most of your work comes from people calling you, not from web forms or lead services. HelloSetter isn't a receptionist for every inbound call. Rosie is.
- Budget is the deciding factor. Rosie starts at $49 a month. HelloSetter starts at $197 a month at the founding rate.
- You want texting. HelloSetter doesn't send SMS. Rosie sends appointment links by text and offers a Website Texting add-on.
- You serve Spanish-speaking customers. Rosie handles English and Spanish on every call.
- You want calls logged in Jobber or Housecall Pro. Rosie's integrations log calls, texts and chats to the customer record. HelloSetter has no native Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan integration.
Plenty of shops could reasonably use both: Rosie on the main line so no inbound call is missed, and HelloSetter on the web-lead feed so no form sits for hours. They don't overlap much.
Pricing compared
Rosie lists three plans on its pricing page: Professional at $49 a month for 250 minutes, Scale at $149 for 1,000 minutes, and Growth at $299 for 2,000 minutes. Annual billing gets two months free. Booking straight onto your calendar and live or warm call transfers start on Scale; on Professional, Rosie sends appointment links by text. Website Texting is a $50-a-month add-on for 25 conversations, then $1 per extra conversation. Rosie's page asks what happens if you go over your minutes, but we couldn't confirm the answer today, so check that with Rosie before you pick a plan.
One thing to note if you use Housecall Pro: Rosie's Housecall Pro integration says it needs Housecall Pro's MAX plan, because that's the plan with API access.
HelloSetter: $197 / $347 / $697 a month at the founding rate (regularly $297 / $497 / $997) for 75 / 150 / 400 leads, and $2 for each lead over your plan. No setup fee, month-to-month, and a free 14-day pilot after the setup call. It is priced by leads called, not minutes, so a long conversation with a good lead costs nothing extra.
The fair way to compare isn't price against price, because they're doing different jobs. Compare HelloSetter's cost against what one extra booked estimate a month is worth to you, and compare Rosie's against the inbound calls you're missing now.
How to switch, or try both
Since the two tools touch different things (your phone line versus your lead feed), you can try both at once without them getting in each other's way:
- Count last month's web leads and inbound calls separately. That tells you which problem is bigger.
- Start Rosie's 7-day trial on your main number if missed inbound calls are the issue.
- Book the HelloSetter setup call and connect your website form, sheet or Zapier feed in about 30 minutes.
- Run the free 14-day pilot on new web leads only.
- At the end, keep whichever earned its cost, or both.
If you already use Rosie and want to add HelloSetter, nothing about your Rosie setup has to change. HelloSetter works off your lead feed, and callbacks from its leads come in on its own local number.

Hear it yourself
Call (307) 414-8089 to talk to the HelloSetter AI, or tap "Call me now" on the homepage and it will call you within seconds, the same way it calls a new lead. Then start a Rosie trial and call your own number to hear how an answering service handles the other side of the job.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rosie cheaper than HelloSetter?
Yes. Rosie starts at $49 a month for 250 minutes. HelloSetter starts at $197 a month at the founding rate for 75 leads. They do different jobs: Rosie answers inbound calls, HelloSetter calls new web leads.
Does Rosie call new leads from my website?
Rosie's website describes inbound call answering and website chat. We didn't find outbound calling of new web leads listed on its site or pricing page.
Can HelloSetter replace an answering service?
No. HelloSetter answers callbacks from leads it has called, on a local number, but it isn't a receptionist for every call to your business. Many shops would pair it with an answering service.
Does Rosie work with Jobber?
Yes. Rosie says its Jobber integration logs calls, texts and chats to the client record on every plan. It does not book jobs in Jobber; booking runs through your connected calendar.
Can I try HelloSetter before paying?
Yes. After a 30-minute setup call you get a free 14-day pilot, then month-to-month with no setup fee.
